Where do you find this stuff?!

Duckie Uglings began with recycled sweaters but quickly pivoted to using polar fleece and faux fur. now that my main ‘retail’ fabric store is out of business, i’m back to repurposing and upcycling just like the old days! i thought it would be hard to source materials but it’s actually a lot easier than you’d think, you just have to go with a narrower choice on yardage and patterns. but hey that’s what makes the Uglings unique!

Where to shop:

The Stashery at the Textile Center of Minnesota

Oldies & Goodies in White Bear Lake

Art Start/Art Scraps in St. Paul

Good old thrift stores check the area by linens and materials and blankets for fleece and fur. blankets are great for large amounts of fabric, some clothing can work too but i find bulky seams hard to work around.

FB Marketplace and Buy Nothing groups

I’m lucky to have a crafty day job, and a lot of crafty friends who know I can recycle material-let your friends and family know you’re looking for material!

The stuffing I use is 100% recycled polyester (FiberFil brand) and I do purchase new eyes and thread online. Everything else is thrifted, gifted, or work-lifted!
